Keiki GromFest 2012 Official Announcement
This is the official announcement of the “LIVE LIKE SION” GROM FEST celebrating the lifestyle of Sion Milosky. Sion’s family, the community and the YMCA Kauai have come together to hold a contest that gives back to the community and represents the family values and lifestyle that Sion not only believed in, but also lived. The contest will be a day of Family Fun at Prince Kuhio Beach where Sion and his family have surfed all their life and where his roots are deeply embedded forever.
The “LIVE LIKE SION” event will be on the 28th of July 2012 at 8am. It will be a free event for unrated kids 12 and under. There will also be a diviSION in which an adult and keiki will be able to surf as a team. In this diviSION, there will be no loser. The keiki will surf in their heat and the adults will surf in theirs separately. They will both be able to surf twice and the scores for each team will be added up to figure out the winning team for the event.
Entry forms will be available 2nd weekend of July at local Kaua’i surf shops. There will be limited entries as there are only so many spots available. It will be a first come first serve basis.
All awards for the event will be done after the contest at Poipu Beach Park at 5:30pm. It will be a potluck style get together so please bring your favorite dish and drink. Please come out and bring your family to the “LIVE LIKE SION” GROM FEST and help us celebrate the lifestyle of SION MILOSKY.
We are asking for various donations to help give back to the YMCA of Kauai and also to The Live Like Sion foundation. The donated funds will help future events put on by the YMCA Kauai and the Live Like Sion foundation.
There will be raffle tickets for sale at the contest and all proceeds will be divided evenly between the YMCA Kauai and the Live Like Sion foundation. Raffle tickets will be $10 and there will be some great prizes given out during the contest and at the awards banquet.
